In a world increasingly shaped by screens, algorithms, and instant communication, The Postcard Project was created as a tactile reprieve: an invitation to slow down, reflect, and reconnect through the simple act of writing by hand. The nonprofit explores the space between technology and human connection, creating opportunities for people to leave a thought in the present and encounter it again in the future.
Studio Kaialoa developed the brand identity around this tension between the analog and digital. Rather than treating the postcard as a nostalgic object, we positioned it as a contemporary tool for reflection, participation, and storytelling. The identity, print system, and visual language were designed to make the experience feel thoughtful, approachable, and deeply tactile, translating the project's mission into a cohesive brand that could live across physical installations, printed materials, and community experiences.
The result is a visual identity designed not simply to represent The Postcard Project, but to invite people into it: to write, participate, pause, and ultimately reconnect with themselves and one another.

How We Approached This Project
With no existing brand identity to reference, we relied on research and mood boarding to define a clear creative direction. Then we crafted a modern, approachable identity, anchored in cream and forest green, with vibrant accent colors that suggest optimism and community. Every choice aimed to make the brand feel welcoming and flexible as it grows.
Our design thinking centered on clarity, consistency, and emotion, ensuring the identity feels both professional and genuinely human. The goal was a system that's adaptable yet memorable, helping the organization connect with supporters through warmth and not noise.
