The Eritrean Heritage Celebration is an annual event at City Hall that highlights important aspects of Eritrean history and identity, the connection between the name “Eritrea” and the Red Sea, the discovery of some of the world’s oldest human remains in Eritrea, and the immense sacrifice made during the struggle for independence, in which more than 700,000 lives were lost. Perseverance and resilience continue to define the Eritrean people.
